Keeping a spotless home and working at the same time sometimes seem to be a impossible feat. But it can be doable, however in trying to keep your home presentable you don’t have to kill yourself. Even if you go to work there is not enough reason for your house to look like a pig house. New habits can be learnt and if you inc-operate these tips into your daily routine , your home will always remain in tip top shape.
1)Clean as you go!
My mother always didn’t want food served from a dirt kitchen. As we were growing up she always wanted you to clean as you cook . That way you don’t have to spend more time cleaning after you finish cooking. Wash the cooking utensils just after you finish using them. Try to wipe the kitchen counter as you go , and put rubbish in the bin. Rather than trying to clean the whole kitchen, concentrate on small tasks that helps you towards your goal of having a cleaner kitchen each day.
2) Create a routine!
A routine can be a set of steps that you can follow in order to reach certain targets. A written down routine will help you remember all the knicks and cracks that you have to follow in order to reach your desired goal. It also ensures that nothing is left out. On work days l usually concentrate on small tasks that l can do as l go and then do major cleaning overhauls during the weekend. A routine can be as simple as making the bed when you wake up in the morning.
3) Clear out the clutter!
Decluttering involves getting rid of all things that you no longer need. It also involves only buying the essential stuff for your home. I usually do weekly fridge decluttering, monthly home raids as my children like to call it. There is no need to keep on holding on to trash that you do not need, its easier to keep your home clean and tidy if you have fewer things. Teach yourself to outgrow those hoarding habits, save your money and only buy things that you need.
4) Handy Appliances..
Dishwashers, robo-vacuum cleaner, battery operated bathroom brush you name it can be handy to help you have a clean home. Instead of having to use you hands to scrub that bath tub a battery powered brush can help to keep it sparkly.
5) Let everyone help…
From a young age , teach your kids how to do simple chores around the house. You can start with simple things such as making their bed after waking up, putting their dishes in the sink after eating, putting their clothes in the washing basket . Teach them from how to use dishwasher, operate the vacuum cleaner and even cleaning their rooms. Try also to find ways to get your husband to help you
6)Do it one room at a time….
Taking up to cleaning one room at a time, can be better than thinking on how to clean the house house in one go. Putting yesterday’s washing in the basket is better than dumping them on the floor or on the chair by the corner and your house will look better. You can then schedule a deep clean on your day off.
7) Call in for some external help...
If you feel that you can not cover everything yourself, there is no harm in getting extra help. Having someone come in for those things that you cannot do your self. I know that hiring someone for those deep cleans can be really expensive but for the peace that brings , I think its worth the trouble.
